The big web is a repository of some great tools for all kinds of work. These ones are mostly free and don't require a sign up.

What if there was some magical way to of the stuff you love in less time? Speed reading is easier than you thought and this useful and free web app will train you how to do it. You'll be presented with a simple text box where you can paste the text you want to speed read. This can be text from any article online - no restrictions on length. Click the Spreed button to start - if it seems too slow, too easy, too small, these are all settings you can configure. You'll start at 300 wpm (words per minute) and soon progress to 400wpm which is a fairly high speed. Keyboard shortcuts (n for new, p for playpause, +for speed) can be used.

Lets say you want to send a private message to someone - and you only want the recipient to read it once. We're not questioning why (it could be to fulfill your spy fantasies) but if you did, Privnote is really hassle free. You just write your note and click the create button.  The service will create a link that you can copy and send. Once the recipient reads the note, it will be automatically destroyed.

According to them, Numbeo is the world's largest repository of living conditions in any city of the world.  This could be very useful if you are planning to shift base from one city to another. You can view details regarding cost of living, property prices, crime rates, healthcare, pollution, traffic and quality of life. Plus, there is also a section on useful details like taxi fares, hotel prices and fuel. If you like, you can compare two cities on various criteria with a graphbased comparison. Keep in mind that the data is provided by users of the website and not from an independent research, so it’s hard to determine the authenticity of the numbers.

Have you ever wondered if you get paid better or worse compared to other countries? Using this dedicated page by BBC, you can now compare your salary with the average wage paid across 70 countries in the world. Head to the page and enter your country and monthly wage (in local currency, before taxes), on the website. It will then show you a comparison chart depicting how your wage compares against the average wage in your country and for the rest of the world. The data is provided by International Labour organization.

Psykopaint lets you convert your photos to beautiful paintings with different paint styles. Head to the website and choose to paint online. There, just up load a photo and you can start to paint, right in the web browser. You can choose to apply a preset paint effect or manually select and place paint effects in the area of your choice. You can choose from various styles such as Van Gogh, Renoir, Guillaumin and so on. You can also create a painting from scratch using various brushes and colours (with support for multiple layers). Note that for additional effects and to save the image, you need to create a free account.  Psykopaint also offers an iOS app.

This simple tool lets you encrypt files and protect them with a password before you send them over the internet.  Simply choose a password and upload your file - it could be any sort of file up to a maximum file size of 30MB. It will encrypt your file using 256-bit security derived from your password. The encrypted file (with the .simp extension) can then be downloaded and sent over email. To decrypt, the recipient needs to open the webpage, enter the password and upload the same file. Once decryption is complete, the original file can be downloaded again.

Why use PowerPoint when you can use a web browser to create amazing presentations? With Emaze, you need to first sign up for a free account. Once done, you can create a blank template or choose one of the free templates to start making a presentation. You can create multiple slides; add pictures videostext as well as charts to your presentation. With the free account, your presentation will be saved on Emaze's own cloud storage only. With he paid Pro and Emazing accounts, you get various benefits like offline viewing, custom logo use, password protection and collaboration.

Choosing between similar products can be difficult. Versus lets you compare them on attributes like price, looks and even offers recommendations. It can be used in over 15 languages. You can compare, phones, laptops, cameras and various other gadgets on the site.

Pixlr offers a couple of interfaces for photo editing. If you prefer more control and tools, check out Pixlr Editor, if you want to quickly fine-tune an image, then open Pixlr express. Each interface has its set of tools to enhance your images and then allows you to save the image back to your computer.

FileThis is a tool that can help you become more productive and even help reduce carbon emissions. The main idea of FileThis is to act as your personal online storage where you store receipts, bills, bank statements and documents - to be easily accessed at anytime. FileThis can connect with your various accounts (PayPal, Amazon, bank accounts and so on) to automatically download and save new bills. You can choose to have your documents stored on FileThis' own cloud storage or on your existing cloud storage solution like Google Drive, Dropbox, Box or Evernote.
