Success is good, but failure is a better teacher

Success is good, but failure is a better teacher

SUNDAY was an eventful day for me. The Tata Mumbai Marathon is bigger than what I had anticipated.

Thousands and thousands of people lining up to run various events in the Mumbai marathon, it was an amazing sight. The enthusiasm to run or move in this country is infectious and am happy that the running revolution is booming in India. Hopefully, this will lead to great things and one day, they will have an Olympic champion in track and field.

To become a champion you need role models. Obviously, if your parents run then the child gets a role model at home. This inspires the next generation and then it will lead to a sporting revolution. Playing sport is a very healthy habit. And I believe if an adult inspires a youngster to take up a sport, then there is no greater motivating factor. There were over 44 thousand runners attempting to run on Mumbai”s streets on Sunday. Once you cross the finish line, you get hooked on to running irrespective of the distance you have done.

I hope each and every runner sufficiently is satisfied with his/ her performance. For those who achieved their deserved goal, it is the way to go forward. You can dream to set up new goals within the boundaries that you set for yourself. For those who did not achieve the desired success, there is a greater motivating factor for you to continue doing what you attempted on Sunday. Success is great for the state of mind but failure is always a greater teacher.

I am happy I accepted the role of an ambassador of the Tata Mumbai marathon. I hope to have future engagements with this magnificent country of yours, to see how it is growing as a sporting nation. A sporting nation is a healthy nation, a healthy nation is a happy nation.
