Every village in Maharashtra will be digitally connected by 2018

Signs MoU with Oracle and HP

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Tuesday announced that every village in Maharashtra would be digitally transformed by 2018. Addressing the gathering at Oracle Open World in San Francisco, US, he invited global players to explore technology partnership with the Government of Maharashtra.

Fadnavis in on a two-day US visit to tap IT investments and also promote Make In Maharashtra. “I extend my invitation to all and would like to announce Oracle CEO Safra Catz will be a member of the international panel constituted to take forward the strategic technological vision of smart cities and smart villages,” Fadnavis said.

An MoU was signed between the Maharashtra government and Oracle for development of Kalyan-Dombivali as a smart city. Outlining the immense opportunities in Maharashtra for global players in field of technology, Fadnavis said, “The 21st century is about digital revolution and we are looking forward towards cloud computing technology sharing and bringing changes in core sectors from healthcare, education and agriculture for welfare of the people. Through cloud computing and big data analytics, we can deploy our resources to create wealth.”

The Oracle CEO held a brief interactive session through questions posed to Fadnavis. Earlier, the CM entered into a strategic partnership with Hewlett Packard (HP) for the flagship project of digital transformation of 28,000 gram panchayats across the state.

After his meeting with Hewlett Packard Enterprises Chief Executive Officer Meg Whiteman, Fadnavis said, “HP has evinced keen interest in partnership with the Maharashtra government for the MahaNet, an ambitious programme to take digital fibre network across 28,000 gram panchayats.”
