Univ Act officially comes into force
Maharashtra Public Universities Act
(MPUA) came into effect from Wednesday.
The act that was passed in the state
legislative assembly in December 2016 has now officially come into force. Some
of the major changes that the act aims to bring in the existing university
system include
- Reintroduction of university elections after 22 years,
- Setting up of students' development councils (SDCs),
- Introducing choice-based credit system with more subject options,
- Cutting down of political appointments through nomination of experts etc.
