New by-laws for affiliation to CBSE schools promote transparency
Human Resource Department Union Minister
Prakash Javadekar announced the ministry's decision to revamp the norms for
granting affiliation to CBSE schools yesterday. The revised by-laws give
emphasis to learning outcomes, and aim to make the process of affiliating with
the board more simple and transparent.
Javadekar said that the by-laws have been
revised for the sake of higher transparency, speed and hassle-free procedures,
with the emphasis being on learning outcomes. He highlighted the main changes
and transition of the affiliation of the system from a complex one to a simpler
system.
The Central Board of Secondary Education
(CBSE) is affiliated to over 20,000 schools nationwide, and receives applications
from 2,000-2,500 schools who wish to affiliate with the board. To increase the
level of transparency, all the applications for affiliation to the board will
now be done online, as per the new by-laws.
