NFC - Near
Field Communication
A new wireless reality
Near
Field Communication technology now allows two devices equipped with NFC chips
to exchange data when they are in close proximity to each other
Using
NFC, you can share videos, music, photos and product information just by waving

Imagine paying for groceries with
the mere touch of your phone to a machine on the payment counter of the supermarket.
No need to carry a fat wallet full of plastic--debit, credit and brand loyalty
cards.
This is a wireless reality that has
already taken birth in several parts of the world.
What is making this dream come true
is a technology known as Near Field Communication (NFC), which allows two
devices equipped with NFC chips to exchange data when they are in close
proximity to each other (a distance of only a few centimetres). Using NFC, you
can share videos, music, photos and product information just by waving the
phone at the receiving/sending device or by tapping at those devices.
Used in the US, Japan and Europe and witnessing a rapid growth,
NFC, sooner or later, is expected to become common in India as well. All the
leading mobile handset companies have already come out with NFC-enabled
handsets and the number is only expected to grow in the years ahead.
