MU organises first-of-its-kind
mythology fest
The
Department of Sanskrit, University of Mumbai, has organised Aakhyaan — an
authentic knowledge platform with objective to interpret and apply mythology by
revisiting ancient text and understand their relevance in present context.
University officials said the second edition of annual day-long-session is
scheduled on January 16 next year.
Aakhyaan,
which is described as the first-of-its-kind annual mythology festival in the
country, was conceptualised by the department of Sanskrit, University of
Mumbai. It brings together experts, scholars and individuals from all concerned
areas, once every year, to share and discuss ideas, prospects and
responsibilities.
University
officials said: “This time our theme is ‘The Hero’s Journey’, wherein we seek
to learn more about who can be call ‘hero’, what are the common patterns in a
hero’s adventure across societies, and how lessons from this aspect of
mythology can be applied to our contemporary lives.”
The
day-long session will include a panel of distinguished speakers from academia,
popular culture and corporate industry, with different activities to engage the
audience to offer a mix of learning and fun.
