Mumbai univ passes plan for
2016-17
Mumbai: The Mumbai University
perspective plan (2016-17) was passed on Thursday at an urgent meeting called
with ex-officio members of the academic and management council and also the
senate.
The plan, prepared by the board of
college and university development, incorporated 21 recommendations by the
state government, such as
·
women
empowerment
·
research
development
·
autonomy
of colleges
·
variety
in syllabus, academic audit
·
setting
up of women's colleges
·
setting
up of evening colleges in industrial belts
·
creating
skilled manpower and
·
more
law colleges.
The plan lays down guidelines for setting up institutes, courses depending on requirements in a geographical area.
The state government has told universities to submit their plans for the next academic year by November 21. "Once the government gives the nod to our plan, we will invite applications from colleges on the basis of the requirement in December. Last year, the government did not allow setting up of new colleges and divisions. This year, we have decided that those colleges can reapply without paying the processing fee," a university official said.
