National Reading Day: India celebrates reading day on June 19 to honour the life and works of P.N. Panicker, a teacher from Kerala


June 19 is celebrated as National Reading Day to honour the life and works of P.N. Panicker, a teacher from Kerala. Here is a look at the man, his contribution to education and why Reading! Hint: Think Library.

National Reading Day 2020

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the National Reading Day. To honors the man and his message of ‘Read and Grow’, the week starting June 19 would be celebrated as Reading Week. Furthermore, this year, the ‘Reading Month’ would also be celebrated from June 19 to July 18.
In the present situations, the P.N. Panicker Foundation has initiated online reading activities which can be checked on the official website pnpanickerfoundation.org/national-reading-month-2020.html. 

CBSE has also asked schools and teachers to celebrate the National Reading Day and organize various online activities for students.
