App Update - PDF Element

PDF Element

PDFElement lets you edit text, annotate documents, combine multiple files, reorder pages and extract individual pages from a PDF document.

The app lets you edit, highlight, underline or strike out text; insert shapes, arrows and lines; leave comments in copy with custom symbols, and apply preset rubber stamps like “draft”, “confidential”, “not for public release”, etc. Apple iPhone users get extra features that let you insert a digital signature into the document and the ability to scan documents with the handset’s camera.

That said, both platforms come with the option to save your work offline and connect to multiple cloud storage services including iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and Box. You also get a wireless data transfer tool that allows you to send files from your laptop to the phone over a common Wi-Fi network.

Android, iOS Free

  1. UGC to do away with ‘publication’ for PhD

The University Grants Commission will do away with the compulsory publication of two papers for PhD students, UGC vice chairman Bhushan Patwardhan said on Wednesday.

This announcement comes after it came to light that the ‘two compulsory publication’ rule led to many bogus publications, bringing down the overall quality of PhDs in the country. This was pointed by a report submitted by a committee headed by Balaram, former director of IISc. Bhushan added that UGC would instead create a new eco-system with a new PhD regulation.
