HAVE A HEALTHY WORK DAY

HAVE A HEALTHY WORK DAY

Considering a large number of people spend a lot of time at their workplace, it makes sense to pay a little extra attention to your immediate surroundings there. Believe it or not, your work environment can actually have an impact not only on your productivity but also your mood. Here are some tips that will help... Take a look at your desk. While it isn't always possible to keep it thoroughly organised all the time, make an effort to maintain some sort of orderliness. Being disorganised might only increase your workload, cause stress and lower your efficiency .Take out 10 minutes at the end of the day to sort out your papers, files and stationary.

Once or twice a week, go through your drawers to discard papers or files you do not require. If you store snacks in your cubicle, it is important to sift through them to check in case they are past their expiry date.

A small indoor plant will not only brighten up your desk but also soak up the toxins emanating from the floor cleaners, carpets, printers, etc.

Sitting for hours hunched in front of the computer can take a toll on your shoulder muscles and back, as well as your eyes. Get up every 20-30 minutes to stretch your legs. You could also perform some stretching exercises while sitting or standing near your chair. Rest your eyes every hour by doing some eye exercises and use drops to ease dry eyes.
Take the staircase every alternate day and go for a walk around the office block to stretch your legs in your break. This will relieve the stress in your back.

While the vending machine or the cafeteria might offer tasty treats to snack on during a long day , it is not doing your health any good. Try to carry lunch from home as often as possible and stock your drawer with healthy snacks that you can munch on.

While it is not advisable to put up personal photographs all over your desk, there is no harm in personalising it a bit. A small souvenir from your travel or a favourite mug can brighten up a dull desk.

Sitting in an air-conditioned office all day can damage your skin in the long run. Keep a small bottle of moisturiser and a lip balm in your drawer and use them during the day .
Keep yourself hydrated with green tea or fresh fruit juices instead of endless cups of caffeine.

Check if your workstation is at the right angle or you might end up straining your neck. Adjust your chair properly so that it supports your back, forearms and feet well. Ensure that your computer screen isn't too bright or dull and that it is in line with your vision.
