Online knowledge-sharing platform Parentcircle launched in Chennai

Parentcircle.com, an online knowledge platform that connects parents, experts and counsellors across India, was launched on Wednesday.

Nalina Ramalakshmi, Founder and Managing Director of parentcircle.com, said, “There is very little online content specific to India on parenting.” The objective is to provide parents information from trustworthy sources, like experts from the field. It allows parents and experts to share experiences using multimedia content called Clipboards.

Users can form micro-communities, crowd-source content, and contribute localised information. The platform can be accessed either through website parentcircle.com or through a mobile app. Stating that currently they are focussing on community building, Ramalakshmi said they will be introducing membership models soon.

She said they might levy a nominal charge for usage on a monthly basis. Former cricketer VVS Laxman, who launched the website, said the need of the hour is for parents to constantly learn and share things and experiences, which Parentcircle enables.

The platform has a tie-up with more than 20 content partners and 50 educational institutions in Chennai.

Ramalakshmi said they will be going to Bengaluru, Mumbai and New Delhi to reach out to schools.
