Automated Multimodal Biometric Identification System (AMBIS) @ Biometric e-database
The system will use accurate individual biometric technologies, including fingerprint identification, iris recognition and facial imaging. Under the system, every police station in the state will have a scanner, which will be linked to the main server that is located at the state headquarters.
“Besides detecting crime through usual fingerprints at the crime scene, the system with the help of retinal scans, palm and bare sole scans can help trace criminals with cent per cent accuracy,”
Professor Amol Deshmukh, a forensic and investigation expert and adviser to the Maharashtra government, said the system will prove handy in cases of terror attacks. PTI
