With attractive features, Castaway is a simple podcast client that lets you subscribe to shows or listen to single episodes
Castaway is
the podcast player we all need
Castaway is a simple and clean app for managing your
audio podcasts. It is the player that can be useful for those who want a
podcast player that does not require them to commit to a show to tune in.
Compared to other podcast players, Castaway’s interface
is quite minimal. In fact, from a distance, it does not look like much and one
can easily mistake it for a native Apple app if not looked at carefully. The
app has a lot of white with a little bit of purple thrown in here and there for
contrast. The typeface is default Helvetica that makes it easy to read. Once
you add a few apps to the app, you will see that it is well organised.
Navigating around in Castaway is easy, and the app is fast and responsive.
The main view of the app features two sections that offer
four choices – My Podcasts and Browse Directory under “Podcasts” and Unplayed
and Saved under “Episodes”. Underneath these sections is the option to go to
the settings, where you can customize playback, automatic downloads, refresh on
startup, and even export all of your subscriptions. If you are transitioning
from another podcast app, then you can export your shows from that app and
choose Castaway without any problems.
If you are new to the world of podcasts and want to
listen to something interesting, you can browse through Castaway’s pretty good
repository. All you have to do is choose “Browse Directory” and then search by
category or most popular on iTunes, or even by network.
If you are looking for a simple podcast client that lets
you subscribe to shows or listen to single episodes, and has a number of
attractive features (automatic refreshing and downloading), then Castaway’s the
one for you.
