Dewey Decimal Classification system – IPR conflict

Dewey Decimal Classification system – IPR conflict

I am not mistaken; only LIS professionals identify the system of DDC Classification. Library users also recognized this system for checking the books in the library through the OPAC or WebOPAC.

The funny incident occurs with the DDC IPR conflict; OCLC of Dublin, Ohio, acquired the copyright & trademark of the DDC system in 1988. So, in 2003 they realize that one of the hotels situated near New York Public Library had themed their guest's floors based on DDC major category theme, and each room themed after a sub-category of Dewey.
