SDP at MIT Engg College Alandi Pune


Dear All

I am happy to inform you that I completed two days Staff Development Program at MIT Engineering  Alandi Pune.



The two days divided into four sessions, and the course is as follows.

·       First Session | Smart Research Tools
·       Second Session | Other Research Tools
·       Third Session | Other Research Tools
·       Fourth Session | Innovative Research Tools 

Smart Research Tools:  The session further categorized into three broad headings they are,
·       Smart Research – Google (I am feeling Lucky), Google Search & Advance Search
·       Smart Reference Service - Google News & News Aggregators (For CAS Service) & Google Alert  (For SDI Service)
·       Smart Research Service – Google Custom Search Engine & Google Translation

Other Research Tools: The second session talks about the following topics
·       Smart Image Search – Google Image & Reverse Image Search
·       Repository Domain – Cloud Computing & Google Drive, Google One
·       User Feed Back – Google Form
·       Scholarly Books & Journals Search – Google Books & Google Scholar
·       Open Access Books & Repository - DOAJ – Directory of Open Access Journal, DOAB – Directory of Open Access Book & DOAR – Directory of Open Access Repository  

Other Research Tools: The third deals about the following tools
·       Big Data & DIM Tools – Folder Search, Back Query Search & Google Desktop Search
·       E-Book Management Tool – Caliber E-Book Manager
·       OER  - Resources on Open Educational Resources
·       MHRD & Other Resources – E-Pathshala, DIKSHA, MOOCS, Educational Channels, Virtual Labs, Spoken Tutorials, Shodhganga, Shodhgangotri, & NPTEL 

Innovative Research Tools: The last session talks about the following things
·       TED Talk
·       World Digital Library
·       National Digital Library
·       QR Code
·       Real Vs. Fake News
·       Content is a King
·       Social Media
·       Library Core Function – Transition 

The program designed for the MIT Engineering College staff, but on a special request, MIT Management allowed some of the LIS professional to attend the same.

Twenty participants attended the program, fourteen are from MIT College, and six participants are from other colleges who had come from different parts of Maharashtra.

I must thank Mrs. Vandana Khandelwal Madam, Mr. Rahul Bharathe Sir & Management of MIT for inviting me as a resource persona for the SDP.

I also thank every participant of the program for their support and patience hearing.



I hope they enjoyed the session.
