Maharashtra education department sets its KRAs
MUMBAI:
Restricting girl drop out rates to less than 5%, developing and implementing a
child tracking system, biometric attendance and digitization for government and
aided schools are some of the Key Result Areas (KRA) set by the state education
department.
In a government resolution issued on Tuesday, the state listed 12 KRAs to be accomplished in the span of next two years. The KRAs were set as per the instructions of the chief minister.
Among those that the state plans to achieve in this year are, to provide biometric attendance systems for all government school teachers and students to be implemented by 2016 depending on the funds available, employ teachers in the government and aided schools through a common entrance exam, provide separate toilets for girls and boys in all schools and digitization of all government and aided primary schools in the state.
In the long term, the state plans to arrest the drop out rate among girl students up to class X to less than 5% in a span on two years. The state will also aim to bring Maharashtra in the top three on the learning level outcome surveys on the national level within three years. To begin with it aims to improve mathematics and language outcomes by at least 5% in the first year.
The state will also ensure full implementation of the Right to Education Act, 2009 and set up a State Assessment Accreditation Council (SAAC) to grade schools.
