HRD May Release Fellowship Amounts to Research Fellows
The human resource development ministry is preparing to relax its
current rules and provisions to release, in advance, significant fellowship and
scholarship amounts to doctoral, post-doctoral and research fellows in universities
and colleges.
ET gathers that the government is also considering options to keep
salaries going to thousands of ad-hoc teachers. These measures are being
considered due to the ongoing lockdown which has stalled academic activities
across educational institutions. The University Grants Commission (UGC)
disburses a range of monthly fellowships and scholarships to doctoral and
post-doctoral candidates.
These include fellowships for female candidates,
candidates from the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, OBC sections,
minorities, persons with disabilities, single girl child, university rank
holders and meritorious candidates from the North East.
