The evil of rote learning has plagued
Indian classrooms since time immemorial. With the revolution which is underway
in the K-12 sector, there is a glimmer of hope of education being rescued from
the clutches of rote learning. But reasons like a lengthy syllabus, shortage of
teachers are cited even now to justify it, which defeats the very purpose of
education, as students are unable to apply the concepts they learn outside the
four walls of the classroom.
