Irregularities in Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research Training and Human Development Institute (SARTHI) has shown that of the Rs 54 crore sanctioned by the government for the Pune institute, only Rs 12 crore were used for student welfare, while the rest were allegedly diverted for office purchases, salaries and the institute’s advertisements that did not have government approval.

BharatNet – Digital Connectivity at gram panchayat level

The Government of India, through its Union Budget 2020-2021, allocated Rs.6,000 for BharatNet, to further increase broadband connectivity in rural areas.

The govt vision is to provide digital connectivity to all public institutions at the gram panchayat level, such as anganwadis, government schools, etc.

The fiber to the home (FTTH) connection through BharatNet will link 100,000-gram panchayats this year itself.
